NDIS is a provider of healthcare plan management services for senior citizens. The firm has been in this business for a long time. It offers the following health plan services for seniors:

  • Assessing eligibility for Medicare benefits
  • Evaluating Medicaid eligibility
  • Providing premium estimates
  • Managing Medicaid benefits and managing issuer contact information

They also offer application assistance, Medicaid option confirmation, monthly statements, Medicare supplement forms, Medicare approval and distribution, technical issues with Medicare and payment options, and help with registration and enrollment in Medicare Advantage Plans. The firm is not affiliated with Medicare. The services provided are under the following areas:

Services provided by NDIS plan management services include:

  • Providing premium estimates.
  • Managing eligibility for Medicare.
  • Providing Medicare Supplement forms and reports, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield Select, Medigap eligibility, Medicare Savings Programs, and Medicare Part B.

Service providers also include independent agencies, as well as many independent agents and brokers. Independent agents can be contracted to assist plan administrators or their staff, while brokers have more specialized professional knowledge and can be independent subcontractors. Brokers receive less direct management support but typically have more access to plan documents and other information and more extensive marketing opportunities.

The Medicare Supplement Insurance Coverage and Selection Branch (LSCB) provides nationwide support for NDIS plan management. The Medicare Supplement Insurance Program is a government-sponsored program that provides health insurance coverage for people with Medicare. A Medicare support coordinator helps plan administrators and program applicants (visitors) with each plan type’s various requirements and procedures. LSICB also provides guidelines and materials to support plan applicants (visitors) concerning enrollment, including application materials, eligibility questions, and enrollment status. In addition, support coordinators and support technicians provide help with preparing and applying for any Medicare Supplement insurance plans for their clients.

For private sector service providers, an NDIS plan management service provider may specialize in one or more support areas. Some providers are plan management firms that operate independently, while others are part of larger organizations, providing various services tailored to specific clients. There are even some independent agents and brokers who perform as plan managers and/or consultants. Many independent agents specialize in one or a few areas, while larger companies often have plan management departments and service providers nationwide.

The primary tasks of support coordinators and plan managers include enrollment processing, plan review, eligibility verification, plan to service and claims to process. To become a registered NDIS plan manager, an individual must become a Medicare Supplement Insurance Planning Board (MSIPB). Additionally, a person must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. MSIPB members are subject to periodic re-registration based on their registration date. To become a member, an individual must complete an approved form from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and pass all applicable tests.

Medicare supplement insurance plans provide substantial benefits to seniors with varying degrees of chronic health conditions and disability. Unfortunately, many seniors choose to participate in a Medicare supplemental insurance plan despite having present medical problems, which negatively impact the quality of care they receive and significantly increase the amount they pay for healthcare premiums. Independent representatives of managed care plans can help seniors understand their options, including enrollment options, benefits and premiums, and other important information regarding Medicare and Medigap policies. When considering planning management and support, senior beneficiaries can also work with local Medicare Shared Savings Program (SSGP) regional representatives to learn more about additional resources that can help them save with SSGP.
